In house 20, one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, there was the hotel "Red", which was called "Metropol" before the revolution. At the end of the summer of 1919, in the restaurant of "Metropol" the well-known white Cossack ataman Shkuro together with the Commander of the Volunteer Army V. Z. Mai-Maevsky arranged a banquet on the occasion of Denikin awarding him the rank of lieutenant general. The singer Nadezhda Plevitskaya sang at the banquet.
