When the Jonathan Club, a prestigious Los Angeles social club founded in 1895, began admitting women in 1987, it occupied a 12-story Beaux Arts building at 545 South Figueroa Street. Designed by Schultze and Weaver and built in 1924, this building replaced the club's earlier headquarters in the Pacific Electric Building. In addition to its downtown location, the Jonathan Club also maintains a beach club in Santa Monica.
