The Amsterdam RAI's automotive history began in 1895 with a bicycle industry exhibition. Cars joined the show in 1900, leading to the Rijwiel and Automobiel Industrie (RAI). From 1961, the exhibition occupied a new venue and took place in odd-numbered years.
