Melč, chapel, 1930-1970

Moravian-Silesian Region
melč-chapel

The chapel in Melč was renovated in 2009 by the civic association "Za Opavu" with a grant from the VIA Foundation. It is likely a military memorial connected to General Laudon, whose army camped near the chapel while marching towards Nový Jičín. Laudon fell ill during the battle of Guntramovice and died after reaching Nový Jičín. A similar chapel supposedly once stood in a field along the old road to Mikolajice.
