
The 16th-century synagogue, renovated in the 18th century, now has a new roof. It is the only surviving example of the Lviv-type synagogue (with 9 vaulted bays supported by 4 central pillars) in the Czech Republic. After World War II, the dilapidated building was used as a warehouse. Between 1977 and 1989, it underwent a lengthy and inappropriate conversion into a warehouse, the effects of which are being gradually reversed since 2005.
