
This 1989 photo shows the 9-story Art Deco Sears store in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles, at 2650 E. Olympic Boulevard and Soto Street. Built in 1927 in just six months at a cost of $5 million, this mail order distribution center, designed by George Nimmens Company, boasted a 226-foot tower and 11 acres of floor space.
