Singapore River. Boat Quay, 1930-1933

In the background is Elgin Bridge, on the hill is Fort Canning. Boat Quay (on the left) stretched along the south bank of the Singapore River from upstream of its mouth to Coleman Bridge. Its shape along this curve earned it the nickname "The Belly of the Carp".
