
The 16th-century synagogue, renovated in the 18th century, now has a new roof. It's the only surviving example of the Lviv-type synagogue (with 9 vaulted bays supported by 4 central columns) in the Czech Republic. After WWII, the decaying building was used as a warehouse. Between 1977 and 1989, it underwent a lengthy, damaging conversion into a warehouse. These inappropriate alterations are being gradually removed after 2005.
