Mírkov, chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, chapel windows, 1975

The nave of the chapel was destroyed, but the rock-hewn presbytery remains. The presbytery walls have been partially rebuilt. Originally a single-nave pseudo-Romanesque chapel built on a scenic viewpoint about half a kilometer south of the settlement, it replaced a hermitage carved into the rock after 1800. The rear of the nave was built into the sandstone cliff (which still stands). The chapel's furnishings were contemporary with its construction. The tower was demolished in June 1975, and .. Read more »the nave in June 1977. Soldiers repairing the nearby road destroyed the interior furnishings before the demolition. A large pile of rubble (sandstone and brick) remains where the nave stood; the front left corner survives to a height of about 1.2 meters. The chapel is not registered in the land registry; the land belongs to the municipality of Povrly.
