Mírkov, Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, 1975

The nave of the chapel was demolished, but the rock-hewn presbytery remains. The presbytery walls have been partially rebuilt. Built after 1800 on the site of a rock-hewn hermitage, this pseudo-Romanesque, single-nave chapel stood in a beautiful scenic location about half a kilometer south of the settlement. Read more »olished in June 1977. The furnishings were destroyed by soldiers repairing the nearby road even before the demolition. A large pile of rubble (sandstone and bricks) marks the site of the nave; the front left corner survives to a height of about 1.2 meters. The chapel is not registered in the land registry; the land belongs to the municipality of Povrly.
