December 26 (13), 1904: The Berliner Local Anzeiger reported that Napoleon's villa on Elba has been acquired by Queen Alexandra of England. The Queen had previously attempted to purchase the villa, but Prince Demidov, the former owner, refused to sell. The current owner, Tonielli, proved more amenable. The villa's furniture and decor remain largely untouched, as Napoleon left them.
