Leidseplein, 1960s. One of Amsterdam's most famous squares, alongside Dam Square and Rembrandtplein, Leidseplein is known for its entertainment and nightlife. Located southwest of the city center, it takes its name from the Leidsepoort, a former city gate demolished in 1862, which stood along the road to Leiden.
