Cape Plaka, a natural rock formation shaped like a mushroom, resembles an owl or a Pekingese dog when viewed from the sea. In ancient times, it housed a fortress and the Lambas lighthouse (Greek for torch or lamp). The former palace of Countess Gagarina is visible to the left. Postcard, May 14, 1955.
