Park Avenue and 35th Street's northwest corner once housed the Church of the Covenant (Liberal Presbyterian), dedicated in 1865 and demolished around 1891. Three small residences (26, 28, and 32 Park Avenue) then occupied the site. Number 20 later became the Women's City Club until 1939, when a modern apartment building replaced it.
