My great-great-grandfather, Ivan-Anton Velichko, made several prints of Kyiv, mostly in black and white. He experimented with colored glass and magnifying lenses during the photographic process and later hand-colored and retouched the prints. He created homemade postcards which he sent to friends and acquaintances. Inspired by Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky, whom he knew, but realizing his own lack of talent as a photographer, he abandoned the endeavor. This amateur work is one of his few surviving pho.. Read more »
