Maiden Tower - Qız Qalası and Ganjinsky's house from the Primorsky Boulevard side, 1968


The Maiden Tower, the main keep of Baku Fortress, offered panoramic views and was also known as "Kala-khonsar" or "Finger Tower." Built in two stages, the first possibly predating Islam, with inscriptions dating to the 12th century. It served as a lighthouse starting June 13, 1858. Visible nearby is the iconic Hajinski House, built in 1906 and expanded in 1912.
