Officials in Compton and Willowbrook are working to rerail seven overturned Southern Pacific freight cars, one of which is a tanker carrying 30,000 gallons of flammable butane. The derailment prompted the evacuation of five blocks in downtown Compton around the civic center. The incident occurred on December 15, 1986.
