A monument in Glory Park was erected on March 13, 1969, to commemorate the liberation of Kherson by the 49th Guards Rifle Division under Colonel Vasily Margelov and the 295th Rifle Division under Colonel A. P. Dorofeev, who freed the city from German occupation on March 13, 1944.
