The Olympic Oath was first pronounced at the Games of the VII Olympiad, the text of which was written by Pierre de Coubertin in 1913. It was pronounced on behalf of all the participants by the famous Belgian athlete - water polo player and fencer, winner of the previous four Olympics Victor Bohen. He later became the chairman of the Belgian Olympic Committee. The idea to revive another ancient tradition - the oath - belongs to Coubertin. He worked for a long time on the text of the oath, which is still pronounced by athletes at the opening of each Olympics: "On behalf of all athletes, I promise that we will participate in these Olympic Games, respecting and observing the rules by which they are held, in a truly sporting spirit, for the glory of sport and for the honor of our teams."

Little Julien is one of the symbols of Brussels. One version says that Julien witnessed how, during the siege, the enemies planted explosives in the city wall, set fire to the cord, and hid in cover. There was no time to run for help or look for water, and he extinguished the cord in this way, thereby saving his hometown. The figure of the boy was installed in 1619. Photo from 1960.
