Verona Cathedral, officially the Cattedrale di Santa Maria Matricolare, was built in the late 12th century on the site of a basilica destroyed by the 1118 earthquake. Its facade dates to the 16th century. The cathedral houses Titian's "Assumption of the Virgin" in one of its chapels.

The Church of San Fermo Maggiore in Verona, Italy, comprises two distinct levels. The lower church, built by Benedictine monks in the 11th century, replaced an earlier structure. The upper church was added in the early 14th century and features a remarkable wooden ceiling resembling an inverted ship's keel. The entire church is adorned with medieval frescoes.
